Ceremony Spotlight

Ash and Kirsten

Sauvie Island, OR | Sweet Delilah Flower Farm

What they received:

  • A fully custom ceremony and officiating by me

  • A passionate all-queer vendor team who poured their hearts into every detail!

What Ash and Kirsten needed:

From the moment we met, I could tell that Ash and Kirsten’s love was bold and beautiful! They were looking for an elopement experience that was fun, bright, intimate, and grounded in queer joy.

How we worked together:

Surrounded by the love of an all-queer vendor team, Ash and Kirsten said “I Do” under a stunning arch of roses at Sweet Delilah Flower Farm on Sauvie Island. There was not a dry eye in the house!

Without community, there is no liberation.
— Audre Lorde

My favorite part of their ceremony:

In our industry, it’s rare that I find myself in the presence of only queer folks at a wedding.

Despite access to marriage equality, as queer vendors and marriers, we all carry with us that deep awareness that loving each other openly in this way is not a right that has been granted to a majority of those who have come before us.

And yet, we’ve always loved anyway. We’ve created families anyway. We’ve created beauty and magic for ourselves and our communities in the face of so much discrimination, because we know that to love is the purpose of life in these bodies.

So to be a part of Ash and Kirsten’s celebration, which was so intentionally grounded in queer joy and resilience, I knew I could verbally honor the full power of our LGBTQ+ ancestors during their ceremony, and that I could truly allow that power to fill and energize every person present. We breathed into each moment. Ash and Kirsten’s love was everything, and represented everything. And yes, we all cried!
